Speakwire™ the
talking news current
This is the news service run in conjunction
with Speegle the talking search engine. From here you can chose your
news output from many different RSS news feeds from around the web and
concatenate them into your own personal news feed delivered in the background
while you work. Speakwire uses PanVox Speak Perfect voices to deliver
dynamically changing news stories in a clear neutral accent voice for
your personal intrests whether they be news, sport, technology etc
Podcast or Autocast?
Stricktly speaking this service could be
described as a Podcast but more accurately this service is known as an
Autocast which is a Podcast using speech technology. The difference is
that it is faster to generate than a Podcast and for news and blogs it
is therefore better. There is no point in Podcasting a news service as
it may be out of date in 30 minutes. We can of course provide podcasts
for Weekly or monthly magazine content please contact Sales@speakwire.com for information.
How to use Speakwire™
Choose the feeds which will make up your
personal choice by selecting first the category. The expanded category
listing is then shown and the feed or feeds selected. The selected feeds
are shown in the final choice box and there the slected items can be
ordered for transmission from our servers. If you want to delete a newsfeed
from your selection just click it again in the selected feeds box you
will notice that it disapears from the selection. If you wish your selection
to be remebered next time you visit speakwire just click the remember
my feeds tick box and next time you visit speakwire it will
replay your selection updated of course. Now press the the Speakwire send button
and wait for your news delivery. That's all there is to it.
To go to the page of the source from which the headline
is taken press the keyboard numbers corresponding to the
read out headline 1 to 9 number and follow on from a, b, c, d, e, etc. e.g.
for a link to article 6 press the number 6 on the keyboard for a link
to article g press g on the keyboard. These links will take you to the
source of the article. During this phase we are restricting the number
of feeds to three and the total number of articles to ten. This will
last a few days until we have tuned the servers and are happy with the
performance.

Troubleshooting
The most common problem is that the there are no speaker
or headphones attached to the computer and the second most likely cause
is that the computer does not have a sound card fitted. If either of
these two states exist then our service will not be available to you
until there is a working sound system. If the above problems are not
the cause then in order of importance are:

your system must have the ability to play Macromedia
flash version 6 and above downloadable from http://sdc.shockwave.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?

Your system must be able to run javascript if this
is disabled then ask your technical support to guide you through
the process which is very straightforward.

Your firewall may be blocking any incomming data
and for this you must get internal ITsupport.
